WHAT TO EXPECT

WHAT TO EXPECT

WATERWAYS GUIDING

We provide full-service canoe guiding, working with you to plan the perfect adventure for your group. Planning a backcountry paddling trip can be complicated, and we tackle all the details so you can focus on being present. We focus on safety, nature connection, having fun and learning new skills.

PLANNING AND PREPARATION

Based on your individual or group interest, we will plan a trip that's right for you. We'll ask lots of questions to make sure we understand your specific needs and cater the activities, food etc to your group. We'll send you a packing list, an we provide all group gear including tents and dry bags. We can recommend places to rent sleeping bags and pads.

PARTICIPATION AND GROUP INPUT

We strive to create a trip where everyone is engaged, pursuing what they're interested in, and within a safe comfortable zone. We'll make decisions based on the changing needs of the group. Not only will we all learn about each other, the skills needed to cruise comfortably through the land, but we will continue to learn how to cooperate and collectively problem solve. Wilderness trips create many team-building moments!

CAMPING AND FOOD

On a river trip, we will make camp in a different location each night. Campsites will have picnic tables, a fire ring, a privy, and space for tents. Our water will be filtered from the river or lake, and all food will be cooked over the fire using cast iron pans, dutch ovens and reflector ovens. The beauty of canoe camping is you don't have to skimp. Much of the food will be local and organic, and I'll work to create a menu that best suits the group's dietary preferences and restrictions. Wild food will supplement our meals, and if you catch a legal fish I'll cook it! I fully expect that eating and cooking will be a top highlight!
